I don’t like it. Don’t get me wrong, the interior is fantastic and a huge step in the right direction but the exterior has done the opposite of growing on me. The old Malibu was actually a pretty good design, but the new one just looks like a zero-effort miniature Impala with that WEIRD swoop down the side and a monobrow up front.

I actually like the side a lot, the face is the issue for me. The back is a bland as any other car in this segment.
The interior is fantastic though.

I think it’s a huge step forward for the Chevy brand, and I’ve been surprised by the number of them that I’ve seen on the road in such a short amount of time. It definitely catches your eye.

The exterior has to have the most split in opinion of any mainstream car in a while. Some people think it’s handsome (such as myself) and some think it’s downright ugly.
The one thing that seems to be a mutual agreement though is that it’s a humongous step up in every other department over the old one. C&D ranks is second to only the Mazda6, which is downright shocking.

Sweet Lexus, bruh

Ugh, those wheels are hideous. What’s wrong with a simple 5-,6-,7-spoke design?

I thought it was a BMW

Everyone at the dealership hates those wheels.

And yet the cars I actually care about, the new Cruze and new Volt, I have yet to see a single example of in real life :(

Not paying close enough attention. They’re all anonymous and I don’t care enough to tell the difference.

I’ve seen two new Volts in the last couple weeks as well! They’re pretty good looking cars.
No sigh of the new Cruze though, which is surprising since I see Cruzes around here all the time.

The inside of the car is definitely a nice place to be, but the exterior looks like someone took a plastic model of a 13-15 Malibu and put it in the oven for a few minutes.

The new Cruze isn't out yet.

That’s impressive, and not terribly surprising. The interior on this thing is a smashing victory for GM. The capacitive touchscreen feels far more premium than the plastic they’ve been using, the volume knob is sublime (super clicky + heavy metal piece), the steering wheel is comfy, and everything is very solid and feels well-made.

Oh. Damn. I’ve been reading so much about it at the dealership I thought we were just slow at ordering them (As we are with all new models except trucks).

I’m now disappointed this wasn’t out two years ago when my parents were car shopping, it sounds like the interior kicks the Fusion’s teeth in. Plus panoramic roof.

The new Impala is anonymous? I think it’s one of the best car designs Chevy’s had in ages.

Exactly.

The commercial where no one knows it’s a chevy.
The people were like “Is this a Lexus?” “I think it’s an Audi” “Are you sure this isn’t a BMW?”
The whole time I was thinking HAVE ANY OF THESE PEOPLE EVEN LOOKED AT THOSE CARS?

Those wheels look like some cheap aftermarket things.

Nope. Why do you think I have a 2015- sorry “2016" Cruze “Limited” instead of the new one? Because the new one wasn't an option. Dealer told me they'd come in around April-May.

The Malibu is a great example of GM screwing themselves with previous crappy designs. My wife and I had a 2006 Malibu and upon seeing a new one on TV, my wife remarked how it'd be really difficult for her to even give the new Malibu a chance because of how terrible her former one was. I'd imagine there are a lot of others that feel this way.

The commercial of this car with the idiot “car buyers” is the worst.
“What if I told you it starts at 23,000?”
“OMG ALL THAT TECHNOLOGY AND STUFF”
*price as shown: 35,000*

I have no strong feelings one way or the other - it’s as decent looking as the Accord sedan, better than the Camry, and certainly no worse than anything from Nissan. Zzzzz ...

I just don’t like Chevrolet’s styling at all. With a few exceptions (new Camaro, Corvette, Volt) they all look dated. The bowtie is just tacky, and the double grill look just doesn’t work.
![]() 03/05/2016 at 00:03 |

Yes, but here’s a counterargument:
That’s a solid bit of design. And yeah, the bowtie (seriously wtf why is it called a bowtie? looks like a weird cross. Or a plus) is eye-rolling, but is a blue oval with some fancy script in it much better? Or a stylized farm animal? I don’t think any domestic manufacturers really do “not tacky”

The SS is’nt bad; I like the swoop over the hips. But the front and rear fascias—blah. Most of Chevy’s cars aren’t ugly; exceptions Traverse, Trax, and Equinox. And I quite like the new Camaro and Corvette, and the Volt and Sonic aren’t bad. But the rest of them are just... cars. Like measuring fabric. Just five yards of car.

That’s an Impala.
This is the SS
